Ricreato da InGen nella sua struttura su Isla Sorna, dove gli operai dell'isola fungevano da custodi, fu poi trasportato nella vicina Isla Nublar per diventare una delle attrazioni di Jurassic Park.
Un gigante colossale alto più di nove metri, aveva zampe posteriori così forti che gli permettevano di assumere una posizione bipede mentre si nutriva, raggiungendo le cime degli alberi più alti. Il primo dinosauro avvistato dal Dr. Alan Grant e dalla Dr.ssa Ellie Sattler, membri del team incaricato da InGen di valutare la sicurezza del parco per i visitatori, il loro incontro li lasciò entrambi sbalorditi in una delle scene più memorabili di Jurassic Park.
